Pressed thin copper plate on the wood base. It even seems soft, as if it’s a textile. The beautiful random folds show various colours of one single copper plate.
Matsuda, Akinori – metal designer-
Matsuda, Akinori was born in 1981. He is a young metal artist who works as a metal craft teacher in Akita, the north Japan.
He studied in Kanazawa college of Art majored in metal craft. He has varied techniques, thus his works are wide ranged. He won several jewelry design competitions, meanwhile he can work on a space-occupying sculptures.
He makes order made jewelries. He creates art works. His works can situate on our skin to in a white cube.
Metal has divers phases. With heat, it can be soft and changes shape. With chemical substances, it changes the colour. The metal artists are enchanted by this mysterious metal’s possibilities. Matsuda is one of them.
